San Pedro, Bosquecito Evacuated
"The head and heel are our major concerns" A wildfire along the Rio Grande bosque near San Antonio sent a combination of white and black smoke billowing into the sky and prompted an evacuation of residents in San Pedro and Bosquecito Wednesday. According to firefighter Jerry Wheeler of the Socorro County Fire Marshal's office, the fire was first reported shortly after 12:30 p.m. "The cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet," Wheeler said. "It started in the San Pedro area and began moving toward Bosquecito." He said by the time the head of the fire reached Highway 380, flames were higher than the power poles along the roadway. March 17 An officer met with a 16-year-old victim and CYFD personnel at 9 a.m. where the girl related being sexually abused by the suspect over a three-year period. An order of protection was filed and the case is pending further investigation. No contact with the man, whose whereabouts are unknown. March 18 A Lemitar woman reported that she had gone to Albuquerque and upon returning noticed that the license plate was missing from her trailer. She said she does not know if it was taken or if the bolts unscrewed themselves and it fell off accidentally in an act of bolt rebellion. Read more
