Police: NY woman killed mother over groceries
A woman accused of killing her mother in a dispute over groceries has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter in a Long Island court. Laurie Young is being held after a judge set bail Friday at $750,000 cash. Suffolk County Police Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick says Young got angry while unloading groceries Wednesday with her 75-year-old mother, Marlene Young. Fitzpatrick says the 39-year-old daughter assaulted her mother because she felt the older woman had bought too much food. He says the daughter didn't call for help for her injured mother until the next day because she feared arrest. Police say she then reported finding her mother dead in bed.
