Aquashicola, PA Divorce Buyout in Pennsylvania

Since 1979 Somerset Investors Corp. Co. has been considered a leader in the residential mortgage lending business and is currently licensed in 26 states, including Pennsylvania, offering its expertise in many of the circumstances that life brings to many homeowners.   In most cases Somerset has been able to provide lower payments for the spouse remaining while giving large cash outs to the other. Our Divorce Buyout Loan Specialists work with you to determine how much of a loan you need and what it will cost to refinance.Following is an example of how Divorce Buyout works:

Example: John and Jane own a house valued at $500,000, with a mortgage (or mortgages) that total $300,000.  If you subtract the value from the total loan about ($500,000 - $300,000) you get the equity of the house, in this case $200,000.  If John and Jane split their assets 50-50, each have $100,000 equity in the house.  Therefore, if John wishes to keep the house, he would need to refinance the mortgage(s) with a total loan amount of $400,000 and use the remaining $100,000 to buy out his spouse.

Carbon County ready for primary

The electronic voting machines have been tested, sealed and put away, ready for next Tuesday.

Absentee ballots continue to come into the Carbon County Election Bureau, but that will end Friday, when the deadline arrives for those ballots, used by people away for work or too sick to go to polling places.

And now the scanners used to count those absentee ballots are tested and ready to go.

Everything is falling in place for the election -- at least in Carbon County.

County Election Director Kenneth Leffler took one of the final steps to prepare for the primary election Monday when he ran a mandated test of the scanning machine that tallies the absentee ballots. Read more

Carbon's last covered bridge may be retired

Carbon County's last functioning covered bridge may soon be history -- at least as far as vehicular traffic goes.

The 128-year-old bridge is in the midst of getting emergency repairs to its rusted steel grates, over which vehicles cross Buckwha Creek in the Little Gap section of Lower Towamensing Township.

But an inspection by the county engineer during the repairs found even more, very costly, problems with the bridge.

Now county commissioners have to decide whether to spend $400,000 to $500,000 to fix the span -- which is on Covered Bridge Road just off Little Gap Road -- or close it to vehicles and leave it for the use of walkers and bicyclists. Read more
