California 1812 - La Purisima Mission
La Purisima Mission, destroyed by an earthquake. Mision La Purisima Concepcion de Maria Santisima, an early European (Spanish) settlement in the Lompoc Valley in California. Founded in 1787 by Franciscan Padre Fermin Francisco Lasuen, established to convert the local Chumash Native Americans. The site is a State Historic Park in the city of Lompoc in Santa Barbara County.
