Club Drive Park Ribbon Cutting

(Lawrenceville, Ga., November 22, 2008) - Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on December 2 at 11 a.m. for the 40th addition to Gwinnett County's national award-winning park system, Club Drive Park. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and afterwards the park will officially open.

The first phase includes a 4.75-acre lake plus seven additional acres that feature a boardwalk/fishing pier structure, two gazebos, a 13,000 sq. ft. playground, pavilions, a restroom building, 0.33-mile paved multi-purpose trail and two half-court basketball courts.

"The residents in the Club Dr. area were really involved in the planning for this park and are really looking forward to having a special purpose neighborhood park, " said Park Operations Director Sharon Plunkett. "It's a great place to come and unwind with a walk in the park or bring the kids to play on the large playground or basketball courts."

Designed by Lose & Associates, Inc. and constructed by Astra Group, Inc., the $2.6 million Club Drive Park was funded by the 2005 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).

Club Drive Park is located at 3330 Club Drive in Lawrenceville and will be open daily from dawn to dusk.

As a first on many racial fronts of intergrating several corporate businesses since 1968 with Georgia Power, including being appointed the first minority Jury Commissioner of Gwinnett County in 1996,Obama may want to follow her lead.

Here is a poem that her son Tom Livsey believes help describe his mother below:

Happy Birthday Mom!

Special Treasure

God gave a gift to the world when you were born- a person who loves, who cares, who sees a person's need and fills it, who encourages and lifts people up, who spends energy on others rather than herself, someone who touches each life she enters, and makes a difference in the world, because ripples of kindness flow outward as each person you have touched, touches others.

Your birthday deserves to be a national holiday, because you are a special treasure for all that you've done. May the love you have shown to others return to you, multiplied.

I wish you the happiest of birthdays, and many, many more, so that others have time to appreciate you as much as I do.
